Abril is a Brooklyn based interdisciplinary artist currently focusing on theater and film work. She was born in Quito, Ecuador, to a Cuban mother and Ecuadorian father. She left Quito at seven years old, and grew up in Charleston, SC. In addition to the knowledge passed down from her artist parents, she has also graduated from the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities pre-professional Drama program, Coastal Carolina University's BFA Physical Theater program (with a minor in Film Studies), and from the Italian Accademia dell'Arte's One Year Physical Theater program. Abril's professional credits include the premier run of Purgatorio at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which had its previews at Shakespeare and Co. in Lenox. MA; as well as the Philadelphia Fringe Festival run of a new, physical theater piece Galatea.
Like Abril's heritage, her work and interests within the arts are diverse and well rounded. In addition to her extensive actor training, she creates her own work. She has written and directed multiple works of theatre and film, including a feature length documentary. As a new member of the New York City arts scene, Abril is excited to collaborate with new people and continue growing in her craft.
